Packages and mail

Packages and mails are sent to your Express Box via:-

  1. U.S. Postal Service
  2. Personal deliveries made by your suppliers, family or friends.
  3. Courier Services

The client is to ensure that the correct address and box number is CLEARLY marked on all packages and mail so as to avoid any delay in delivery.

NOTE: C.O.D. Shipments to your Express Box in Miami will NOT be accepted. However, there will be a Caribbean Express employee on the premises to sign for receiving packages on delivery. A signature is not required for mail as it is NOT traceable.

Package Examples

  1. Product Samples, Parts (machinery, auto, computers, etc.)
  2. Correspondence, Magazines, Catalogues.
  3. Mail order merchandise (1-800 number orders)
  4. Internet purchases.

Restricted Shipments

Caribbean Express cannot accept and ship the following items:-

  1. Hazardous Material
  2. Perishables
  3. Jewelry
  4. Animal Skins
  5. Firearms
  6. Cash
  7. Pornographic Material
  8. Illegal substances

Weight and Package Restrictions

  1. 1 LB free per day on mail and magazines. Each additional pound over these amounts will incur a charge based on the current rate of exchange. N.B. Daily allowances cannot be accumulated.
  2. Rates are subject to change without notice.
  3. Unlimited pieces, of a maximum of 150 LBS. each, can be brought in on any given day.
  4. Overweight charges are calculated according to the actual weight or the volumetric weight of the package, whichever is greater. Volumetric weight is calculated in inches as follows:- Length x Width x Height divided by 166 = pounds.
  5. Caribbean Express offers a repackaging service (at a small fee) for packages that arrive in large boxes and can be placed into smaller boxes. Should you require this service, a request must me made to the Manager in writing

Limitation of Liability:

  1. Caribbean Express will not be liable for any loss of or damage to any mail/packages from suppliers or vendors before they arrive and are signed for at the mailing address.
  2. Caribbean Expressshall not be liable for lost or damaged mail.
  3. Caribbean Express’ Liability in the event of loss of packages is limited to a maximum of US$9.00 per pound of the package. We advise all clients to insure all valuable packages before shipping.
  4. Caribbean Express shall not be liable for consequential loss such as loss of income, interest or business investment opportunities as a result of lost, damaged, destroyed or misdelivered mail, or as a result of negligence of Caribbean Express.

Dutiable Shipments:

  1. Caribbean Express will pay on your behalf, all charges incurred in clearing your goods, i.e. Duty and VAT, and will bill you the next day with proper documentation from Customs i.e. a copy of the Duty Entry.
  2. All deliveries are on a Cash on Delivery (C.O.D.) basis. Our offices will make every effort to contact you prior to delivery.
  3. Delay in deliveries and rent charges may occur pending the following:-

    1. Lack of or improper documentation. A commercial or proforma invoice must accompany all shipments, whatever the value.
    2. Packages valued at over TT$6,000.00 will need to be cleared by the client as a trade entry. Special documentation will be prepared by Caribbean Express. In order for the client to collect these documents, the relevant freight charges must first be paid to Caribbean Express. We can also arrange for a broker to clear packages over TT$6,000.00 on your behalf.
    3. The client is responsible for obtaining any special approvals that may be required for packages e.g. Food and Drug Stamp.

Caribbean Express will inform you immediately if any of the above are necessary, as the Airport will charge rent on packages left in the Courier Bond for longer than two (2) days.

Prohibited Uses

  1. The actual mailing address is the property of Caribbean Express and is to be used solely for the purpose of receiving and forwarding of mail and packages.
  2. The address shall not be used for the purpose of registering companies within the US.
  3. The shipping addressed shall only be used for lawful purposes.

Advancement Fee

An advancement fee will be charged for each duty entry. Non-dutiable items will not be charged an advancement fee.

Handling Fee

A handling fee will be charged on all packages.

Junk Mail

US Postal addresses receive a lot of unwanted mail, better known as "junk mail" e.g. coupon books, flyers, etc.

Caribbean Express will not deliver or handle this type of mail. If you wish to receive this type of mail, a request must be made to the Manager in writing. Caribbean Express will not be held responsible for any charges incurred on this, such as, duty, overweight or printed matter charges.

Membership

  1. Delivery will be made to ONE (1) address only, i.e. the person who purchases the box.
  2. The person who purchased the box will be totally responsible for all charges made to the box.
  3. Should you need to change your local delivery address, please contact our offices immediately.
  4. Your box will be closed if any money is owing to the company. It will be re-opened upon full payment and no credit against the Annual Subscription Fee will be given for the period your box was closed.
  5. The Company retains the right to terminate this agreement, giving one weeks written notice, that your box will be closed at the end of the next month and a credit will be given for any unused portion of your Annual Subscription.

NOTE: Packages left unclaimed for more than (6) six weeks will be disposed of to avoid further storage fees.

Storage of Packages

A storage charge of US$1.00 per day will be charged for packages left overnight in the Trinidad office. There will be a 2 day grace period after which the storage fee will charged for the following reasons:

  1. Non-payment of the invoice upon the initial delivery date of the package.
  2. The customer requests that the package be held.
  3. Packages with an incorrect box number or name that are left unclaimed upon arrival in Trinidad.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

On the rare occasion, our company may have to move locations to facilitate growth, delivery of packages, etc. Caribbean Express will pay for the mailing of all change of address forms and will provide at least 1 month’s notice, but preferably 2-3 months if and when it may move. The Company is not liable for any lost mail or packages after notice has been given via flyer, e-mail or notice in the daily newspapers.
